Who may say what

The operator that markets the food under its own name or trade name answers for food information, and for imports the operator is shown as 'ithalatçı' (importer) with name/trade name and address, plus the establishment number as 'İşletme kayıt no:' (Food Labelling Regulation arts 8, 9, 29, 30); cosmetics need a responsible person (sorumlu kişi) resident in Türkiye, the importer for imported products, named with address on the pack (Cosmetic Products Regulation arts 6, 22).

Mandatory food information must be given in Turkish, other languages allowed alongside (art. 18); cosmetics are notified in ÜTS before first sale with the original label and, where it lacks Turkish, an added Turkish label.

Nutrition claims may appear only if listed in Annex 1 of the 2023 Nutrition Claims Regulation and meet its conditions; health claims fall under the TİTCK regulation, under which claims listed in the guideline annexes may be used without applying to or notifying the Agency, for products of Ministry-registered or approved businesses.
